Day 2 Sugar Ranches
We will start our tour visiting the Estate El Paraíso known worldwide for being the scenario for the literary book ‘María’ of the author Jorge Isaacs. We will visit the Estate Piedechinche from the XVIII century, there we will see all the process of Sugarcane and the importance it has had in our country. We will also visit the Museum of Sugarcane as a valuable sample of the development of sugar industry. We will enjoy a typical lunch of the region and then we will return to the hotel. Duration 6 Hours approximately.
Day 3 Platillos Voladores (Flying Saucers)
We will enjoy a delicious lunch in one of the best restaurants of the city of Cali, Platillos Voladores, a place that captivates you with its architecture and decoration. There you will find work from the Colombian artist, Carlos Andrade, creating in this way a fusion between art and our typical Colombian flavors, which will delight you and make you feel an explosion of flavors. We will end with our transfer to the hotel and time to rest. Duration 3 Hours approximately.
Day 4 Medellin Sugarcane Experience
Colombia is one of the main countries in South America to produce sugarcane (panela). In Medellin, we will live closely all the panela process in a sugar ranch, where they will explain us the different types of panela and their specific uses in Colombia. Then the farmers will tell us the importance of panela in our economy, understanding in that way the importance of one of the most representative products of Colombia. We will enjoy our typical lunch of the region and then we will transfer to the hotel, time to rest. Duration 10 Hours approximately.
Day 5 Medellin Gastronomic Experience in the Streets
We will go through the streets of Medellin and we will live a gastronomic experience that will permit us to taste some of the typical food of the region, such as empanadas (pastries), buñuelos (cheese fritter) and arepas (corn cakes). Then we will visit the local market where we can enjoy the exotic fruits and delicious juices that will make you live an unforgettable gastronomic experience. We will return to the hotel, have time to rest, and do some additional activities. Duration 4 Hours approximately.
Day 6 Arrival to Cartagena
Reception at Rafael Núñez Airport and transfer to the hotel, free time to rest and tour around the historical center.
Day 7 Cartagena, Colombian Food Workshop
Our experience starts at the Guatila Restaurant of the Colombian chef Claudia Ealo, where we will learn the origin of each dish. We will start preparing as entrée a typical dish of the Colombian Caribbean region. Then they will teach us about the coca leaf as an ancestral Colombian plant. We will prepare ourselves a delicious lasagna with coca leaf paste and we will finish with a dessert based on “chepacorina (typical cookie from Carmen de Bolívar)”. Return to the hotel and time to rest.
Day 8 Rum tasting in Gethsemane Cartagena
We will start our tour walking towards the picturesque neighborhood of Gethsemane. We will arrive at El Arsenal bar where Abraham Dau will accompany us. He has the most complete collection of Colombian rums in the country and is considered one of the five best bartenders in Colombia. We will venture in a journey of flavors, savoring eight Colombian rums, considered as the best worldwide. Some will be in shots; others will be in sips and others in cocktail shakers, accompanied of the texture of one of the best Colombian chocolates, living in this way an unforgettable experience. Return to the hotel walking or free time to do other activities. Duration 2 to 3 Hours approximately.
Free time to rest and go shopping. Transfer to Rafael Núñez Airport to return. End of the service.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
For the cancellation or modification of each of the reserved rooms, there is a period of 90 calendar days before the arrival of the passengers, exempting them from any penalty. For reservations cancelled between 89 to 30 calendar days before the arrival of the passengers, 50% of the value of the booked package is charged, according to the number of people and the chosen plan. Any cancellations of the booked rooms, which are made during the last 29 calendar days before the arrival of the passengers, will be charged for the entire amount of the cancelled reservation, according to the number of people and the booked plan.
No reservation is refundable. If you comply with the cancellation dates you can reactivate your plan within the next 12 months, taking into account that it will be subjected to availability and rates.
After the start of the trip there might be changes in the accommodation. Hotels reserve the right to make changes according to their own policies.
Any force majeure will be treated according to medical services (emergency events, incapacities, or hospitalization). These documents have to be issued by legal institutions for healthcare. In case of death of one of the passengers or a family member in the first degree of consanguinity, a death certificate has to be presented. Any certification that is presented must match the travel dates.
CHECK IN: The time for the guest to get access to the hotel room, which will be specified in the details of the reservation.
CHECK OUT: The maximum time for the room delivery on the departure day, which will be specified in the details of the reservation.
EARLY CHECK IN: It is understood as the possibility to receive access to the room earlier than the stipulated time, this service is subject to availability and may have an additional cost.
LATE CHECK OUT: It is understood as the room deivering later than the stipulated time, this service is subject to availability and, may have an additional cost.
