Day 1: Arrival

Arrival to Bogotá. Transfer to the Hotel

Day 2: Adventure Beggins

Transfer to the Airport and fly to Neiva (Huila Department) Then transfer for about 4 hours, to San Agustín, following the Magdalena river. Transfer to the hotel and in the afternoon visit of the archeological park. San Agustin town is located right in the foot of the Andes range and the flatlands of the Amazon, this location allows the town to have a variety of climates that were perfect for a densely populated center in the pre- colombian times. A high standing culture was developed in this region, which has left to the current times monumental grave sides and hundreds of stone sculptures. Even nowadays, little is known about this mysterious community, that left an entire heritage of tall statues representing the duality of life between sun and moon, and between death and birth. Since 2005 this park was included in the world historic heritage sites by UNESCO.

Day 3: Historical Tour.

After breakfast visit the narrowest point of the Magdalena river, the biggest and main river in Colombia that helped spaniards to the colonization of Colombia’s inlands. This place is known as “El estrecho”, a 2 meters wide canyon where the river passes through. Later in the day you visit the archeological sites "El Alto de los Ídolos" and "Alto de las Piedras" where the major archeological sites are located. Duration 8 hs. Approx.

Day 4.

In the morning, visit to the archeological sites of El Tablon and La Chaquira where other sculptures and symbols of the Augustinian tribes are located. Have a horseback riding experience in the countryside, where you can appreciate green beautiful mountains and valleys. In the Afternoon, transfer to the Airport and fly back to Bogotá. Duration 4 hs. Approx.

Day 5: Zipaquira’s Salt Cathedral.

This is a must see near Bogotá, you will visit the Salt Cathedral of Zipaquira, an architectural structure built within a salt mine that is considered as the first marvel of Colombia. Inside the mine you will find a series of architectural and artistic designs that combined with the effects of light create beautiful images of symbols on the walls and ceiling of the cavernous spaces. Also, inside the mine you will learn about the process of salt formation, part of the mining process and witness an incredible light show that will make your day truly magical. Transfer to the Hotel. Duration 6 hs. Approx.

Day 6 : City Tour Bogotá.

In the morning visit to La Candelaria, the historic city center where you will be in touch with the traditional colonial architecture of the city, and the historical places where this nation fought for its independence and other events. This visit gets a better and complete experience when visiting the icon of the city, the sanctuary of the fallen Lord at Monserrate Hill, one of the things to do in Bogotá, You’ll have fun- filled and informative walks where you will also discover how Colombian society is set, and its cultural offers. Approach Bogotá through the eyes of locals: Perceive how people live in Bogotá, customs, old buildings, gastronomy, the social sides and, of course have some fun. Duration 4 hs. Approx.

Day 7.

In the morning fly to Riohacha, La Guajira’s capital city. Pick up and tour around the Flora and Fauna Sanctuary of Flamingos, a place where thousands of pink flamingos arrive the whole year, looking for food and nutrients in mangrove ecosystem. This strategical point has among its landscapes the snowy mountains of Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, the desert, and the Caribbean Sea. After the birdwatching activity, an indigenous tour guide will explain all the ancestral secrets found in the medicinal plants of area. Lunch is included in a local ranchería with traditional seafood. In the afternoon transfer to the hotel and rest. Duration 6 hs Approx. Transfer by 4WD to Waya Hotel for about 1 hour.

Day 8.

After breakfast you will experience the desert for the first time in this land, going to El Cabo de la Vela, a place where you find mystic stories about Wayuu death beliefs, strong winds, and two beautiful beaches called el Ojo de Agua (Water’s eye) and el Pilon de Azucar (Brown sugar pile), both of them with unique tan sands and clear waters. In the afternoon visit to Mayapo and a traditional ranchería (Indigenous house) where you will learn about all the wayuu believes, dancings and gastronomy. Transfer back to the hotel. Duration 10 hs. Approx.

Day 9.

Visit to other indigenous communities in the area such as Serhviaka y Tunhquenka both of them descendants of the big community of Tayronas, they have lived in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta even before the spanish colonization and have a lot of ancestral knowledge to be shared. In the afternoon a ride in tire through the Palomino becomes an adventure, the landscape is surrounded by lush nature, until you get to the Caribbean Sea. Stay here overnight and enjoy the village.

Day 10.

Enjoy the hotel facilities, hotels here have ecolodge style, located in the middle of palm trees and the beach. The idea of visiting this town is to relax and rest with the sound of waves, gardens and a clear water river that meets the ocean right in this location.
